EcoChef Academy was founded on a simple belief: when people understand food, they are better able to care for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Founder and head instructor Monica Bradbury is a trained Home Economics educator with over 35 years of experience teaching food literacy through cooking, community connection, and sustainable practice. With degrees in Family and Nutritional Sciences, Education, and a Master of Education in Educational Practice, Monica has spent her career helping people make confident, mindful choices in the kitchen—reducing waste, sourcing seasonal and local foods, and cooking in ways that support health and wellbeing.
EcoChef Academy extends this work beyond schools into the wider community, offering inclusive, practical programs that meet people where they are and grow with them over time.
Rooted in Community
At EcoChef Academy, community is not an add-on—it is the foundation of everything we do.
We collaborate with families, nonprofits, schools, local farms, and community organizations to create spaces where learning is shared, relationships are built, and food becomes a connector. Our programs are designed to be welcoming, accessible, and responsive—supporting youth, seniors, and families through hands-on learning and meaningful conversation.

Hands-on cooking classes and series for children, youth, adults, and families—focused on seasonal foods, food security, and adaptable skills.

Food Preservation & Sustainability
Classes in preserving, fermenting, and using local foods to reduce waste and increase food security.

BC Public health Level One Food Safe certification and food safety education for individuals, groups, and organizations.
